Located on the fringes of a piece of property that was formerly the Northville Psychiatric Hospital, there are few clues today alluding to its prior history. Now Legacy Park is a serene woods conveniently located in Northville Township. Once you make your way in among the trees, if not for the occasional sound of the distant urban surf wafting through the treetops, it would be impossible to know how close to civilization this place is.

The approximately 2 mile long Bell Branch Trail has been professionally rebuilt as a beginner friendly flow trail with multiple lines and optional features to keep things interesting for experienced riders.  The trail was designed to maximize the limited elevation, provide excellent sight lines and squeeze in more fun per mile than any other trail in the area. For being such a short trail, it rewards repeated laps as you dial in the perfect lines and speeds to rail the berms and clear the optional table tops.

The perfect trail for beginners to dip a toe in the sport, parents to bring their kids or experienced riders to grab a few after work laps before heading home.

It should also be noted that the trail was designed to allow access for Adaptive Mountain Bikes (aMTB).

The great news is that this trail is the first phase in a project that will bring more mountain bike trails to the park.

The adjacent Hiking Trails have also been rebuilt and expanded.  This approximately 2 mile network flows through the majestic forest and over multiple bridges is a great place to explore on foot before or after a ride.

For longer distance and more adventure, additional riding opportunities at Maybury State Park, Hines Park and the I-275 Metro Trail are within a reasonable riding distance via public roads. When the riding is done, establishments for nourishment and libation are in abundance just off the trail.
