Michigan Comprehensive Trails Plan – Call to Action!

The DNR has announced that a draft of the new Michigan Comprehensive Trails Plan is available online for public review and comment. Read the draft at: http://www.michigan.gov/documents/dnr/draft_mi_trail_plan_12-2012_406477_7.pdf and submit comments using the survey at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/7YM69D2

This plan is 140 pages in length, but the MTB trail-specific content begins at page 97 and ends at page 103. The bulk of the document reflects the needs of the ORV, Snowmobile, and Equestrian trail users.

It would be great if each of our members clicked on this survey link and provided feedback to the Michigan Snowmobiles and Trails Advisory Council and DNR to let them know that we mountain bikers are out here in large numbers, that we spend money on travel and recreation in Michigan as well, and that we have more specific interests and needs than are described in this plan.

Thanks!

  • New bridge at Highland

    New bridge at Highland

The DNR and MCMBA joined forces this last weekend on a project to replace an old bridge on the Highland Recreation Area trail. Bridge work this time of year is a cold, wet, messy business… but the end reward is worth it! The new completed bridge is high and dry and looks great! Thanks team!

  • It’s trail day season again!

    It’s trail day season again!

It’s been a long, cold winter, and we can’t wait to get riding! In the daylight. Without studded tires. Without Moose Mitts and frozen toes. Once again this Spring, the MCMBA is hosting a series of trail days at our area trails. These trail days are a great time to clean up winter deadfall, work…
